KDU Manners:

While you are visiting us - please follow these guidelines:

  • RESPECT THE ANIMALS! The magnificent animals at KDU are wild and possess all their natural instincts. You are a guest in their home. They are sensitive and have feelings. PLEASE don't tap on glass, cross barriers, throw anything into exhibits, make excessive noise, tease or call out to them. Please report any disturbance to the wildlife to a staff member immediately.

  • We feed our animals carefully balanced diets to meet special nutritional needs, so please keep them healthy by not feeding them anything. You may feed the birds in the Land of Lories.

  • Coins in water are very harmful to the cave and the animals that live there, so please don’t toss coins into Martha’s Pool.

  • Pets can unknowingly spread diseases to our exotic animals. No dogs or other pets are allowed on KDU grounds, except service dogs with proper paper work.

  • The use of tobacco products is not allowed on KDU property.  Tobacco is VERY harmful to our animals.

  • Kentucky Down Under is a family park. Foul language and unruly behavior will not be tolerated. No alcohol, weapons, knives or firearms allowed on premises. No running, spitting, or throwing of objects permitted. No solicitation or unapproved distribution of literature on park property.

  • Kentucky Down Under does NOT close for rain. If there is lightning in the immediate area, animal areas may temporarily close and reopen as soon as it is safe to do so. We encourage your family to wait out the storm and enjoy the rest of your day.

  • Wagons, wheelchairs, electric scooter and strollers are welcome – however please note that there are gravel paths and steep hills at KDU.  The Mammoth Onyx Cave IS NOT ACCESSIBLE with wagons, wheelchairs, electric scooter or strollers.  However, we do have a safe place to store them while you are on your cave tour.

  • Skateboards, roller blades and “wheelie” or roller shoes are NOT ALLOWED.

  • Photography is welcome, but please remain in the public areas at all times. Please do not use photos of Kentucky Down Under for commercial use without first obtaining permission from our Marketing Department. If you get some exceptional shots and would like to donate them to KDU (photo credit cannot be guaranteed), send a CD to Kentucky Down Under,  Marketing Department, PO Box 10, Horse Cave, KY  42749.
